Judaism and the Jewish people are not the same as Israel and AIPAC. They’re not the same.

My family immigrated from Egypt. When I’m elected, I’m probably going to be the loudest critic of the Egyptian government in the whole U.S. Senate.

And I would hate if somebody were to say, "Well, you’re now accountable for what the government of Egypt did because you happen to share the same ethnicity as the people who live there," right?

And so I think we have to take great care not to allow what are righteous criticisms of the Israeli government to then cast upon Judaism or the Jewish people anywhere.
