Base moving to zkVMs with SP1. They claim it kills the challenge window nonsense. Sure. Moving from optimistic to zero-knowledge is a massive flex but sounds like another way to offload the burden of proof to a machine that might just fail in new, expensive ways. The office elevator smells like wet carpet. It is all math until the gas fees spike because the prover nodes get clogged. If they think this fixes trust, they have not been in this market long enough to see how the sausage actually gets made. They are just swapping one headache for a more complex digital migraine.
