The National Assembly has passed the Sports (Amendment) Bill, 2026, introducing tougher measures against match fixing and manipulation of sporting competitions.

The Bill defines manipulation to include bribing or receiving an advantage to influence results, conspiring to fix matches, deliberately underperforming and using insider information for betting.

Those found guilty could face a fine of up to KSh1 million, up to one year in prison, or both.
