🇷🇺 🇺🇦 🌐 Lavrov Says Zelensky Has "Not Earned a Ceasefire Respite (Wants to Regroup)"
:.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on October 12 (during a press conference following talks with Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji), that Zelenskyy “does not deserve a respite,” rejecting Kyiv’s proposal for a 60-day ceasefire to hold presidential elections.
Lavrov argued that "such a pause would merely allow Ukraine time to regroup with European weapons supplies, and that Russia would not be swayed by further assurances while continuing its 'special military operation."' Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov separately dismissed the 60-day idea as a "bid to heal wounds and prolong the war," though he said Putin "could order a halt to strikes solely on election day itself."Note that the accompanying video clip shows Lavrov discussing Lebanon, not Ukraine.
