🇾🇪 🇸🇦 🌐 Houthis give airlines a "last warning" over Saudi skies as "claimed strikes" pile up (most "unconfirmed")
:.
Yemen’s Houthi military spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, issued what he called a "final warning" on 8 October, telling international airlines to "stop flying through Saudi airspace." He said that airspace had "become a theater of Yemeni military operations, with an exception only for the skies over Mecca and Medina."
Behind that, the Houthis claimed a "series of missile and drone strikes on Saudi airports and energy sites" recently. Saudi authorities confirmed attacks on Abha and King Khalid International Airport that killed three and wounded 36, while a later Riyadh airport attack damaged a Saudia plane and disrupted flights.
The Houthis also claimed strikes on Najran, Khamis Mushait and Aramco facilities, but several of these claims "were not independently confirmed" (despite footage). On 8 October, smoke and fires were again reported around Saudi energy infrastructure as the Houthis warned oil workers to leave.
