🇵🇱 🇺🇦 🇧🇾 Poland to restrict low-altitude flights along eastern border
The measures are intended to give Poland’s air-defense systems more room to respond to potential threats from the war in neighboring Ukraine.
Poland will restrict air traffic in its eastern region from September 10 to December 9, 2026, the Polish Armed Forces’ Operational Command (DORSZ) said on Thursday.
The restrictions will apply from ground level to about 3 kilometers (9,500 feet), known in aviation as Flight Level 95. Commercial passenger aircraft operating above that altitude will not be affected.
The new restricted airspace zone, known as EP R134, replaces earlier controls. Flights will generally be banned there overnight, with limited exceptions for military and pre-approved flights.
📝 Vladyslav Khomenko: Poland has been extending these restrictions every three months since September 2025. The tightening of security measures was a response to the mass violation of the country’s airspace in the fall of 2025, when dozens of Russian drones flew into Poland.
