The U.S. is sending another aircraft carrier, the USS Theodore Roosevelt, to the Middle East
The carrier and its strike group left San Diego today and will arrive in the CENTCOM area of operations by mid November. In total, 3 carrier strike groups would be deployed by then.
The U.S. also recently sent two additional Patriot missile batteries to protect key oil and gas facilities in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The deployment is meant to reassure both countries, which fear Iranian retaliation against their energy infrastructure.
