The first F-35A for Canada took to the skies.

The fighter jet, with the tail number 35A001, spent over an hour and a half in the air before returning to Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas.

According to the current procurement program, the country is scheduled to acquire 88 F-35A fighter jets, which will be designated CF-35 in Canada. These aircraft are intended to replace the aging CF-18A Hornet fleet of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

According to current plans, the first F-35A for Canada will be delivered to Luke Air Force Base in the United States later this year. There, the first batch of aircraft will be used to train the first group of Canadian F-35 pilots and technical personnel.
