Inter-agency stand-off between HUR and SBU in Ukraine:
During the investigation, officers of the HUR (Ukrainian Main Directorate of Intelligence) located their kidnapped colleague, Stepan Kaplunov (Russian volunteer). The team that arrived to apprehend the kidnappers discovered that they were officers of the "Alpha" special unit of the SBU (Ukrainian Security Service).
After a brief confrontation, the leadership of the HUR and the SBU agreed to resolve the situation, and representatives of the SBU promised to release Kaplunov.
However, in the early morning, SBU officers began detaining unarmed HUR officers. When they attempted to resist, they were fired upon. Several people are wounded.
