When Satan had Jesus Christ mocked and crucified, all he was thinking about was victory over his flesh and human strength since he couldn't overpower him spiritually. He was driven by pride, bitterness and vengeance. He thought he had trapped Jesus in his domain and dominion. But he could only kill his flesh but not his spirit. Jesus Christ did let him have what he thought he had so that he could loose everything. He lost the keys to hell and death. All the leverage he had. Satan is a character God uses to teach and prepare us for eternity. It's why anyone who inherits the traits, habits, thoughts and the imaginations of his ways will not enter the holy gates.
