MIT researchers have unveiled a device that transforms Wi-Fi signals into electrical power, potentially removing the need for traditional batteries in gadgets like iPhones.
Utilizing a flexible, two-dimensional semiconductor called molybdenum disulfide (MoSz), the rectenna efficiently converts alternating current from Wi-Fi waves into direct current suitable for electronic circuits.
This advancement paves the way for seamlessly integrating wireless power into large surfaces, enabling the operation of wearables, medical implants, and various Internet of Things devices without reliance on batteries.
