🦆 HUGGING FACE IS SELLING A $399 ROBOT YOU CAN TRAIN YOURSELF
Hugging Face is selling Microduck, a small open source walking robot created for artificial intelligence experiments, education and robotics development.
The approximately 25 centimeter machine uses 15 motors and can perform movements including walking, balancing, sitting, kicking and interacting with nearby objects.
Developers can train new movements inside a physics simulator before transferring the learned behaviors to the physical robot. Those improvements can then be shared with the wider open source community.
🌐 Why it matters: Affordable open source machines could give students and independent developers access to robotics technology previously limited to universities and wealthy laboratories.
