— Tensions are escalating between Congo-Brazaville and the DRC, following a border incident occurring on the 26th of August, when a Brazaville naval patrol and a DRC naval patrol on the Congo River exchanged fire near the Makoloko area.Following the incident, the confirmed report states multiple injured personnel from both sides, while 2 Brazzaville Gendarmes were captured by DRC forces (picture), and two other Brazzaville elements are still missing.
A 15-year-old boy from the DRC was also killed by a stray bullet while on the shore of the river.
Despite both governments using diplomatic channels to de-escalate the situation, many Brazaville civil society groups are calling for war and accusing the DRC of being an aggressor.
Those declarations by 3rd party organizations led Brazaville citizens to burn the habitation of DRC citizens living in their country on the border town of Betou earlier today (attached video).
