— Ukraine is considering legalizing pornography to bring its large online adult industry (OnlyFans) into the tax system and raise additional revenue for the war effort, WSJ reports.Opposition lawmaker Yaroslav Zhelezniak estimates legalization could generate up to $25 million annually — enough, he says, to finance roughly 30,000 drones. A bill he co-authored passed its first parliamentary vote in July and is awaiting a second reading.
Currently, producing, distributing, or possessing pornography can carry up to seven years in prison, while tax authorities simultaneously demand taxes from adult-content creators.
Data provided by OnlyFans parent company Fenix International showed 7,900 Ukrainians earned more than $131 million through the platform in 2023.
