His approval among Republicans also dropped to a record-low 72%, while just 53% approve of his handling of jobs and the economy, down nearly eight points in a month.
Nearly two-thirds of voters believe the economy is heading in the wrong direction, while 57% say their finances have worsened under Trump. His trade policies are also unpopular, with 56% opposing the new 50% tariff on roughly $20 billion of Canadian goods.
The poll also suggests Trump increasingly is a liability ahead of the midterms: 46% say his involvement makes it harder for Republican candidates to win in November.
