Burundian militia men armed with bow and melee weapons were also spotted gathering in northern Burundi near the border as a show of force.
Rwanda, who is already waging war in the eastern Congo by backing the M23 rebel group, also supports the RED-Tabata Burundi rebel group, who previously waged attacks against Burundi government forces.
