The ELN’s Camilo Torres Restrepo Front used drones to drop explosive devices on the military facility. One officer and one professional soldier were killed, while five professional soldiers were wounded. A Colombian Air Force aircraft was also damaged by shrapnel.
Espriella vowed a forceful response, saying the government would pursue the ELN’s fighters, leadership, finances, and illicit economies. He also announced plans to develop a new military and police strategy for the Catatumbo region.
