— U.S. negotiators used expanded access to Nvidia’s advanced AI chips as an incentive to help secure last year’s preliminary peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, WSJ reports.As part of the effort, Washington authorized broader approvals for chip purchases tied to Armenia’s Firebird data center project. After the preliminary deal was reached in August, U.S. officials approved tens of thousands of Nvidia’s high-end GB300 processors.
The Firebird project, based in Hrazdan, is expected to cost more than $5 billion and eventually house around 70,000 Nvidia Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin AI servers, providing roughly 300 megawatts of computing capacity.
