— Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles met U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in Washington to discuss expanding the U.S. military presence in Australia, including accelerating force-posture initiatives at Australian bases. The two countries also discussed deeper military-industrial cooperation, including guided-missile production.
Marles reaffirmed that Australia expects to receive its first Virginia-class submarine under AUKUS in 2032.
