— Tension between Argentina and Chile is slowly mounting over the control of the strategic Magellan Strait at the tip of South America. The crisis started when General Gustavo Javier Valverde, the Argentinian Air Force chief of staff, declared the Magellan Strait under Argentinian sovereignty, causing a contestation of the Chilean government.
In response, Chilean president Jose Antonio Kast declared that Argentina doesn’t have control or sovereignty over the Magellan Strait and never will.
