— President Trump says he plans to push Congress to create a federal tax incentive aimed at bringing film and television production back to the U.S.Following a meeting with actor and Special Ambassador to Hollywood Jon Voight, Trump argued that Hollywood has become a “Complete and Total Disaster” and that "despite the name, it is getting very little work" as productions increasingly move to Canada and other countries.
He noted that federal incentives could revive domestic production, create entertainment jobs, and ultimately generate more tax revenue than they cost.
He said meetings are being arranged with Republican and Democratic leaders to develop bipartisan legislation, calling on Congress to “immediately” approve a federal production incentive for the U.S. entertainment industry.
