What instrument comforts and corrects with the same motion?
The shepherd's staff. Lead her the way it leads sheep — never driven, always guided.

Correction without comfort is cruelty; comfort without correction is neglect.
"Your rod and your staff, they comfort me" (Ps 23:4).
