Shallow magnitude 6.0 earthquake strikes off the coast of Timor-Leste along the Pacific Ring of Fire
A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Lospalos in the Banda Sea late Monday night, along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
The U.S. Geological Survey said that the earthquake struck at 11:10 p.m. local time about 134 miles north northeast of Lospalos at a depth of about 6.2 miles.
Located just east of Indonesia, this earthquake adds to a busy stretch of seismic activity across the volatile Pacific Ring of Fire following other recent major quakes in the region.
The Ring of Fire is a 25,000-mile belt of volcanoes and earthquake zones surrounding much of the Pacific Ocean.
