A lot of people ask me how I find opportunities.

The answer isn't just applying to more jobs.

One thing I've learned throughout my career is that the people you meet compound.

A colleague today can recommend you tomorrow. A recruiter who doesn't have the right role now might call you a year later. Someone you meet at an event might become a customer, co-founder, employer or friend.

But most of us are surprisingly bad at keeping those connections.

We exchange LinkedIn profiles, phone numbers or business cards, then forget who the person was, where we met, and why we should stay in touch.

That's one of the reasons I'm building C4rd.

I want meeting someone to be the beginning of the relationship, not the end of the interaction.

Share your C4rd. Save the connection. Remember the context. Keep it with you. Even if there's no internet.

Your network isn't a number on LinkedIn.

It's people. And the relationships you actually maintain can change your life.
