Anthro Energy has officially started building its first commercial electrolyte facility in Kentucky.
By late 2027, this plant aims to produce 12,000 tonnes of polymer electrolyte every year. Think of an electrolyte as the "blood" of a battery—it is the material that allows energy to flow back and forth between the poles. Current batteries mostly use a liquid, which can be unstable. This factory focuses on solid and semi-solid materials, which are designed to be safer and pack more power into the same space.
To understand the scale, consider that 25 GWh of capacity is a massive step up. While a standard electric vehicle uses roughly 75 kWh, this facility will produce enough electrolyte to supply approximately 300,000 new electric cars annually.
