Today, I have a difficult but necessary update to share. SlipNet, which began as a personal project to provide open internet access, has reached the end of its development.
From now on, the app will enter Maintenance Mode. I will keep the current core running so it remains usable, and I’ll handle critical bug fixes or security patches. However, there will be no new features or protocols. I’ve decided to step away from the pressure of this project for the foreseeable future.
To be transparent, the reason for this decision comes down to one word: Burnout.
Maintaining anti-censorship tools requires immense energy and time. Unfortunately, the culture of "Donation" hasn't quite taken root in our community yet. On top of that, the frustration people feel toward network outages often turned into harsh, unfair comments directed at me. For someone working for free out of personal care, that negativity is harder to carry than the code itself.
I want to sincerely thank the few of you who did support me, both financially and emotionally. Your kindness was my only spark of hope throughout this journey.
Please, if you use other independent or open-source tools, support their developers. Don't let them burn out too.
