Hugging Face just announced Microduck 🤖
It’s a 25cm open-source bipedal robot with 15 actuators and a serious stack of hardware packed into a tiny body, camera, speaker, LiDAR, NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and more.
What makes it interesting is that you can actually train the robot yourself using reinforcement learning.
It also works straight out of the box with several pre-trained behaviors, including walking, sitting, crouching, roller-skating, picking up objects with its articulated beak, and even recovering after falling.
Tiny, open-source, genuinely functional and extremely memeable.
This is the kind of robot that could eventually end up sitting in people’s homes rather than just being another tech demo. 🤖
