The Real Problem Is the Root Cause, Not Just the Result A recent incident in a school has deeply disturbed many people. Most of us are talking about the incident itself, but very few are asking the real question: What is the root cause? The biggest problem today is religion in name but not in practice. Just because a school has an Islamic name or label does not mean it is truly Islamic in the eyes of Shariʿah. A truly Islamic school is one that follows the commands and limits set by Allah. If we are talking about Deen and Shariʿah, then we must ask: What place does unnecessary interaction between non-mahram male staff and female students have in an Islamic environment? Allah has set clear boundaries between non-mahrams to protect modesty, dignity, and safety. These boundaries are not restrictions without wisdom; they are a means of protecting society. Another serious issue is the use of photographs and videos of young girls to promote schools. Our daughters are an amanah from Allah. They should not be used as a means of publicity or marketing. Their privacy, dignity, and modesty deserve to be protected. When we ignore the limits of Deen and Shariʿah, we should not be surprised if moral problems increase. Instead of asking only how such incidents happen, we should also ask whether we have moved away from the guidance of Allah. Real change will not come by expressing anger after every incident. It will come when we return to the teachings of Islam and sincerely follow the limits set by Allah.
