How to be the ideal candidate series Part 1
If you wanna get hired, you need to make things easier for the recruiter. How?
1. Discuss why you're applying with yourself before applying
Ask yourself:
- Is it purely a money situation, or am I actually a good fit for this job?
- Do my skills and experience match what they're looking for?
- Would I genuinely be able to contribute in this role?
Answer these questions before doing anything else. Also, try to picture the ideal candidate from the recruiter's perspective. Don't be biased toward yourself.
2. Don't lie on your resume, GitHub, or LinkedIn. IT'S OBVIOUS.
Don't try to drag the name of a single company across completely different roles just to make your experience look more relevant. For example, you might say you were a Mobile Developer at Company X when applying for a mobile development role, then change the same experience to Backend Developer at Company X when applying for a backend role. There is a very good chance that the same recruiter or hiring manager reviewed your CV for both roles. And when they notice the inconsistency? U IS OUTTT
Always keep this in mind, your resume should reflect what you actually did, not what you think the recruiter wants to see.
