🇾🇪 - The importance of Jabal al-Rawa in the Mocha direction, southwest Ta'izz countryside, southern Yemen:
Map key:
- Blue: Jabal al-Rawa.
- Yellow: Bani Omar area.
- Purple: Main Ta'izz supply route.
- Orange: Ta'izz mountain pass.
Heavy fighting continues in the al-Wazi'iyah area over the strategic Jabal al-Rawa.
The loss of Jabal al-Rawa will allow Ansarullah entry to the strategic Bani Omar heights. If the Bani Omar heights were to fall to the al-Houthi forces, it would not only cut the main supply route, but also leave thousands of PLC forces only a 4.5km narrow gap via a valley between At Turbah and Sabaran to evacuate through.
With the main route cut, the PLC forces will be forced to withdraw using mountain passes, with most impossible to allow the transport of heavy vehicles. In turn leaving behind vast supplies of heavy military equipment for the Ansarullah.
The loss of Bani Omar would be catastrophic for the PLC, it could potentially completely encircle thousands of PLC fighters in Ta'izz, or whoever does decide to flee, will have to do so in a light vehicle or on foot, becoming easy an target for Ansarullah artillery and drones.
The PLC troops present in Ta'izz are the al-Islah affiliates, including the tribal forces and the Popular Forces, and the pro-Hadi National Resistance Forces.
