*Unpopular Opinion*: *QA Should Never Have the Power to Block a Release*
If shipping depends entirely on a QA sign-off, the process may already have a problem.
Here's why
It can create a safety net where developers rely too heavily on QA. It can turn QA into the team's "gatekeeper." Most importantly, QA identifies and
communicates risk.

A strona Senior QA Engineer shouldn't simply say:
"You can't ship this."
Instead: "Here are the risks, their potential impact, and what could happen if we release.
The business can now make an informed decision."
When QA acts as a risk advisor rather than just a gatekeeper:
Product teams take greater ownership of business decisions. Developers take greater ownership of quality. Teams have better conversations about risk and release readiness.
QA isn't about controlling releases. It's about providing the information needed to make better release decisions.
