🔆 Third Phase of Underwater Archaeological Exploration
🟢 Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology (TNSDA) launched the third phase of underwater exploration off the Poompuhar coast.
🟢 Divers explored 2 km into the sea at a depth of around 10 m; the operation is planned for 20 days considering ocean currents and the NE monsoon.
🟢 Previous survey in September 2025 was conducted with Indian Maritime University using ROV, sonar, profiler and multibeam scanner.
🟢 Pattinappaalai, Silappadikaram and Manimekalai mention Poompuhar’s maritime trade with Sri Lanka, Southeast Asia and the West.
🟢 Significance: Strengthens research on ancient Tamil maritime links and the heritage of Kaveripoompattinam.

🔆 International Day Against Child Marriage
🟢 UNGA adopted a resolution declaring 27 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage.
🟢 India co-sponsored the resolution and aligned it with the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat campaign, launched on 27 November 2024.
🟢 Campaign target: Reduce child marriage by 10% by 2026 and eliminate it by 2030.
🟢 The resolution was led by Sierra Leone, championed by First Lady Fatima Maada Bio and Bhuwan Ribhu of Just Rights for Children.
🟢 Backed by 70 nations, it calls for stronger laws, national action plans, education and empowerment of girls.
🟢 Child marriage is recognised as a harmful practice violating human rights and affecting education, health and economic opportunities.

🟢 A 3-day BRICS Chief Justices’ Forum began in New Delhi.

🟢 Malaysia declared an emergency in Serian, Sarawak after the Air Pollution Index (API) reached 519.

🔆 ‘Tr’ Prefix for Teachers – Karnataka
🟢 Karnataka CM announced that teachers in the state can use the prefix “Tr” before their names.
🟢 The title is intended as a mark of respect, similar to Dr, Er and Prof.
🟢 Karnataka has 4.5 lakh+ teachers, contributing to India’s approximately 1 crore educators.
🟢 The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting and launched during the Praja Seva Abhiyan in Vijayanagara.
