🇬🇧 #UK - 🇮🇱 #Israel: Israel has announced the closure of the British consulate in East Jerusalem after the UK, alongside France and Canada, announced a ban on imports from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and sanctions targeting individuals and companies involved in the illegal settlement expansion.
Britain also announced further restrictions on arms exports that materially contribute to the occupation, while accusing Israeli settlers of carrying out ethnic cleansing against Palestinians with government backing.
As a response, Israel is additionally barring 12 British nationals, excluding the UK from a US-led Gaza coordination mission and ending British training of Palestinian Authority forces (what the Israeli state considers troops stationed in the West Bank).
British lawyer Fahad Ansari, one of those barred, said he would take the decision as a "badge of honour".
