Christopher Miller, a journalist for the FT, writes that his sources familiar with the negotiations have revealed that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner brought updated versions of previous documents. These were revised to reflect the changes that have occurred since peace talks stalled in February, at the beginning of the US conflict with Iran.
However, according to sources, Trump's envoys arrived with almost no new ideas. Instead, they attempted to revive previous proposals and bring the positions of Kyiv and Moscow closer together.
The key issue remains the part of the Donbas region that is still controlled by Ukraine. For Zelensky, this is a red line: he insists that Ukraine will never cede either this territory or any other territory occupied by Russian forces.
