Bitcoin is now recognized as a legitimate investment asset, purchasable through intermediaries licensed by the Central Bank of Russia.
Using bitcoin to pay for goods domestically remains illegal. However, an exception allows residents to use bitcoin in foreign trade—payments to non-residents are permitted under regulated, supervised agreements.
