🗣 CFTC Fines Trump Speech Bettor
The CFTC has fined Gabriel Perez, a former White House teleprompter operator, $172,000 for trading on Kalshi based on advance knowledge of phrases in Trump’s speeches.
Perez used his access to speech drafts before delivery, earning over $107,000 between December and February. As part of the settlement, he must disgorge his profits, pay a $65,000 penalty, and is banned from participating in prediction markets for three years. His cooperation led to a reduced sanction. Perez was suspended from his role in July.
