– Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ) warned Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu of Hamas' plans to attack Israel over a week and a half before the October 7 attack, Haaretz has revealed.MBZ held a phone call with Netanyahu warning him that the late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was planning to escalate, fearing a war with destabilizing consequences for the entire region could ensue. Three sources confirmed the details of the call.
While MBZ urged de-escalation in the West Bank and economic reforms for Gaza, Netanyahu said Israel was "prepared for any scenario" and assessed Hamas planned to operate mainly in the West Bank.
Surprisingly, no heads of defense were briefed on the warning: Neither the head of the Shin Bet, of Mossad, or the IDF Chief of Staff were informed of the call.
