AI can’t do everything ooo. Read this👇🏾
American automotive giant Ford Motor Company has rehired hundreds of experienced engineers after discovering that artificial intelligence alone could not deliver the level of quality and expertise required in its vehicle manufacturing process.
The company revealed that it has brought back more than 300 veteran quality inspectors and engineers in recent years to strengthen product quality and improve the performance of its AI-powered systems.
Ford had adopted artificial intelligence across several parts of its operations, including vehicle quality inspections, hoping to reduce costs, improve efficiency and detect manufacturing defects more quickly. The company also installed about 900 AI-powered cameras across its production plants to identify quality issues early and minimise disruptions in its supply chain.
However, company executives have now acknowledged that the technology did not perform as expected without the guidance and experience of seasoned engineers.
