🇷🇺📡 Russia's State Radio Frequency Commission (SRFC) has approved conditions for launching 5G mobile networks in Russia.
Operators Beeline, Megafon, MTS, and T2 will be able to deploy 5G networks in existing radio frequency bands previously allocated for LTE (4G), using foreign base stations installed before September 1, 2026.
To develop high-performance networks, the "big four" operators have also been allocated new radio frequency bands — 90 MHz each in the 4,630–4,990 MHz range, without auctions.
5G networks on technology-neutral terms must appear in cities with populations over 1 million in the near term. In the 4.63–4.99 GHz band, 5G will launch in the most popular locations in million-plus cities by end of 2028, with coverage expanding in phases over three years. From 2027, a phased transition to domestic base stations is planned, to be completed by end of 2031.
