A gunman opened fire with an AR-style rifle at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho on August 1. Three people were killed. Seven more were injured... but the death toll could have been far worse.
Jordan Salinas: a healthcare worker and full-time caregiver for his wheelchair-bound brother, was there.
He drew his handgun, engaged the shooter and drove him away from the restaurant. The gunman, reportedly shocked by the armed response, fled and later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Jordan didn't pick up a gun until 2021 after witnessing a shooting himself. That was a turning point for him and he spent five years training. He said he was able to "observe, orient, decide and act."
He trained for a moment he hoped would never come.
