When the reconnaissance aircraft returned in the morning, they would find new positions that hadn't been seen the previous day.
The strategy wasn't limited to concealing the forces; it also included minimizing the use of radios, prohibiting open fires, and imposing strict discipline on vehicle movement to leave no indication of the force's size or direction.
The goal was simple: to let the enemy discover your presence only after you had already arrived.
Thus, night in World War II wasn't just the end of a day's fighting, but the beginning of a silent race in which armies moved unseen, preparing for a battle that hadn't yet begun.
