New Police Uniform to Be Unveiled Today: President William Ruto is expected to officially unveil a new uniform for Kenya Police Service general duty officers today, Friday 28th August 2026, during the pass-out parade of more than 6,000 recruits at the Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo, Nyeri County. The new attire will replace the current deep navy-blue uniform that officers have been using. Inspector General Douglas Kanja said the change follows recommendations from a 2023 public participation exercise in which officers rejected the navy-blue design and preferred a return to an earlier approved look. The graduating recruits will be the first to wear the new uniform. A gradual national rollout to other general duty officers is expected to begin from Monday 31st August. Officers in the Administration Police Service and the General Service Unit will retain their current uniforms for now. Kanja described the change as a morale booster for officers, especially the new recruits.
