Ursula von der Leyen, speaking at the La Rencontre des Entrepreneurs de France conference in Paris, proposed that citizens' savings be directed to serve the EU economy. She noted that currently, €10 trillion of household savings are held in bank accounts, with a large portion of these funds being invested outside the European continent.
"Now Europe needs to make these savings work for its companies," von der Leyen stated.
