Daily context check — 28 August 2026
Seven for eight — and now the main event. Yesterday's plan paid to within a dollar of its final target, and its 'hawkish' branch then called the overnight drop to the exact zone we'd written down. Today the Fed Chair himself speaks. Everything this week was the warm-up.
Reading it:
What happened: yesterday's buy zone caught the dip, the bounce hit our first target and died one dollar from the second at 4,643 — then Jackson Hole's opening day turned tough, and gold broke down overnight to 4,564, landing inside the 4,550 – 4,563 support zone our plan had named in advance. Buyers absorbed it, again. Why it matters: the intraday trend has now genuinely turned down — two structure breaks — while the bigger uptrend's shelf keeps holding. That tug-of-war ends today: Fed Chair Warsh speaks at Jackson Hole (~14:00 – 16:00 UTC), alongside revisions to US jobs data (last time: 911,000 jobs erased — another big cut would fuel rate-cut bets). It's also month-end and the weekly close. The catch: this is the most dangerous afternoon of the month. The plan: morning only. If gold recovers into 4,607 – 4,617 and clearly stalls — that's the sell, targets 4,602, 4,583, then 4,564 where we take profits aggressively. A quick dip to 4,576 that snaps back is a small bounce-buy first. And the iron rule: everything closed by 14:00 UTC, nothing held over the weekend. A tough Chair likely breaks 4,564 toward 4,550 and lower; a friendly one reopens 4,643 and 4,674.
Watch this week:
~14:00 – 16:00 UTC: the Fed Chair's Jackson Hole speech — we are FLAT before it, done for the week · Jobs-data revisions land alongside — last time 911,000 jobs vanished · 4,607 – 4,617: the sell zone · 4,576: the quick bounce-buy (small) · 4,564: the floor everyone is watching — Monday opens on whatever tonight decides
The discipline:
How we're trading it: two weeks, seven delivered plans, one honest miss, four news bombs watched safely from the sidelines — and today stacks the Fed Chair, major data, month-end and a weekend into one afternoon. So the rules get their strictest day: small morning trades at the drawn zones only, profits banked fast, and the entire book flat by 14:00 UTC — not because we lack an opinion, but because no opinion is worth holding through that. We'll read the speech calmly from flat, enjoy the weekend, and Monday's plan will open in whichever world the Chair creates. Discipline over drama — it's why the ledger looks the way it does.
Structure over feelings. Process over profit.
