#Islamic_Republic Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the military aggression by the terrorist U.S. military against Lark and Iran’s defensive response: The terrorist U.S. military once again launched an attack on parts of Lark Island on Sunday evening, August 30, 2026, in violation of the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The attack resulted in the martyrdom and injury of a number of devoted defenders of the homeland and our dear citizens, as well as damage to public and private property. In response to this military aggression, and in accordance with the inherent right to legitimate self-defense, the capable Iranian Armed Forces targeted U.S. military bases in Jordan, which were a source and supporter of the U.S. military aggression against Iran, in their defensive strikes. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the U.S. military aggression against Lark, which constitutes a clear violation of paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the United Nations Charter, and reminds the United Nations Security Council and the Secretary-General personally of their responsibility to fulfill their duties to safeguard international peace and security and hold the aggressor accountable. The Islamic Republic of Iran reminds the UN Secretary-General, the President of the Security Council, and all states that have expressed concern over the continued insecurity in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz that the sole factor behind the insecurity of maritime navigation in the region has been the illegal and aggressive actions undertaken by the United States and the Zionist regime. These began with the attack on Iran on February 28 (9 Esfand 1404) and have continued over the past six months in various forms, including the naval blockade and other provocative and interventionist measures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to exercise their inherent right to legitimate self-defense and will respond appropriately and firmly to any military aggression by the enemy. It is self-evident that full responsibility for the consequences of America’s new aggressive measures, as well as the continuation of the naval blockade and economic war against Iran, lies with the U.S. regime and all parties that cooperate or participate in any way in preparing for and implementing the illegal and interventionist U.S. measures. #Military_Media
