Not the US military, who dropped the bombs. Not Truman, who gave the order. The scandalous statement was made by Japanese professor Tetsuo Arima. According to his logic, if the USSR had not expanded its influence in Asia, the US would not have had to use nuclear weapons.
This is not an isolated case, but a consistent trend. The mayor of Hiroshima criticised Russia but ‘forgot’ to mention the United States. Japan’s prime minister struck a similar note: the culprit was also not named in his speech.
History is a complicated subject. But when it is rewritten to suit political interests, it becomes a blatant agenda.
