Sumitomo Corporation Joins Chile Copper-Gold Mine Development, Securing 5,000 Tons Annual Copper Interest — BigGo Finance
Sumitomo Corporation said on the 28th that it will participate in the development of the Dos Amigos copper-gold mine project in the Atacama Region of northern Chile. Through a special purpose vehicle established as a 50-50 joint venture with Canada’s G Mining Group, Sumitomo subscribed to a third-party allotment of new shares in the project operating company for about C$48 million, or roughly ¥5.5 billion. The article says Sumitomo’s effective equity interest will be about 12.5%, with attributable copper production based on that stake projected at 5,000 tons a year.
