He was an activist at GUD Paris. A talented cartoonist, he created the black rat, the mascot that became a symbol for many European nationalist movements. He later joined the leadership of Ordre Nouveau and co-founded the Front National in 1972.
As he put it himself: “It was seeing the campus leftists that I understood the enemies of those bastards could only be my friends; that’s how I joined the Celtic cross, in the winter of 1966–1967.”
