Social media is just one big field of people making silly and terrible generalizations. A girl whose man cheated on her will come and post about how men are all cheaters and do not deserve to live. On the other hand, you'll see a drunk girl being interviewed on the sidewalk, and she makes a remark along the lines of, "I want my husband to make $500k a year and be 6'5"." Then, in the comment section, there will be multiple men cursing women and saying how materialistic they are and that they never should have had rights in the first place. If you indulge in such a sphere for a long time, your view of reality is going to become very, very warped. Most of the things said online are usually far removed from reality, and when you "touch grass," you realize that many of these things barely exist outside the internet. Most of the hateful discourse, especially regarding gender wars, is fueled by women who spend too much time on TikTok and men who scroll too much on Twitter and become heavily involved in manosphere communities. These people end up consuming the most extreme opinions from their respective sides until those opinions begin to look normal. In order to have healthier discussions, we should really work toward removing ourselves from excessive online influence and make a genuine effort to understand reality on our own terms.
