Moving on to the nature of God Himself, almost all Traditional African Religions recognize a Supreme Being who is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, transcendent, and immanent. Other divinities and spiritual beings may also exist, but they are generally understood as subordinate to the Supreme Being. These beings may represent particular divine activities, natural phenomena, spiritual forces, or, in some traditions, deified heroes. Consequently, many Traditional African Religions can be understood as forms of what might be called "diffused monotheism": there is one Supreme God at the highest level of existence, alongside a hierarchy of spiritual beings who act within the world through the sustaining power and authority of the Supreme Being.
